Single or Not!

Here’s a quick little post for Valentine’s Day.

Honestly, I’m not a big fan of the day – and no, it’s not because I’m always single when the day rolls around BUT it is the ‘single’ factor of this day that has slowly started getting more and more on my nerves as the day rolls around every year.

I’m tired of hearing people complain about how sad and lonely they are, on this day particularly, and how they’re going to subsequently shove this sadness and loneliness in everyone’s faces – especially into those belonging to couples – and make everyone pity them for their loneliness.

While your intentions may not be to so openly create the image of self-pity around you, that is what you’re accomplishing and just a side note, self pity is really NOT attractive; so please stop. I know I’m sounding horribly rude and negative but, really? “Singles Awareness Day” (SAD) and all that jazz? Not happy and definitely Not attractive.

Besides, Valentines Day isn’t just about celebrating the love you have with that significant other although yes, it does play a big part of it. But lets not forget the love we share with all the people we have in our lives. All those people who have stuck with you through thick/thin and who you know will have your back no matter what. Those people who have stuck by you for all the years of your craziness and all those times when that significant other has walked out the door. Single or not, those people deserve to feel the love on this very hallmarked-out-capitalist-consumer-lovey-dovey holiday too, right? ;)

On that note, Happy Valentines Day to all of you out there – Single or Not! Hope you felt all the love around you :) I also leave you with some Norah Jones:

  1. I just basically ignore it as a holiday. I’ve only had 2 years in which I’ve been in a relationship and the whole being dumped the first time didn’t help. haha

    • Yeah I’m starting to ignore it as a holiday – its just getting too overrated and people are getting too serious (in the cynical self-pity department) for it to be any fun anymore. Hey, it’s nice to get flowers but not if the person next to you doesn’t and starts complaining about it *rolls eyes*. Haha Okay, enough meanness!

  2. HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY DINI!!! Hey you weren’t around to talk to today – but that’s okay cause it’s the middle of the week! I want to give you LOTS of love through conversation for being oh-so LOVELY in all kinds of ways! I’m sure you’re lovely in person, too! :)

    LOVE! *scampers away*

    • HAPPY VALENTINES DAY JOYCE!!! It’s a bit late on my side of the world but I hope you have an awesome one despite your love being in NYC :) Hopefully we’ll get a chance to talk soon! Things have been getting quite busy! LOTS OF LOVE TO YOU always m’lady! *BIG HUG*

"The unreal is more powerful than the real. Because nothing is as perfect as you can imagine it. Because its only intangible ideas, concepts, beliefs, fantasies that last. Stone crumbles. Wood rots. People, well, they die. But things as fragile as a thought, a dream, a legend, they can go on and on. If you can change the way people think. The way they see themselves. The way they see the world. You can change the way people live their lives. That's the only lasting thing you can create."
