Love On Top

It is once again that day of the year where couples go for ‘special’ dinners and everyone expresses their profound love to husbands, wives, boyfriends, girlfriends, mothers, fathers, children and other family members. It is a day where dozens upon dozens of roses, as well as probably thousands of tonnes of chocolates and billions of heart filled cards are bought and given away as ‘special’ gifts. It is Valentine’s Day – and we all know how I feel about Valentine’s Day.

I am not a huge fan of the day and neither does it bother me much that over the last probably 21 years of my life I have gone through this day single and surrounded by my coupled friends. I almost remember writing this exact same line in the blog I posted on Valentine’s Day a year ago! While it is nice to set aside a day to celebrate the love you share with someone it seems like many people tend to use it as an excuse to forget that love they share on every other day of the year. I am not saying that everyone is like that but this day in ways makes it easy for people to forget or to become complacent. Anyway, I can go on about the other reasons I don’t find this day so appealing but if you’re eager to find them out just clink on the link to last year’s post because discussing it again gives quite the sensation of dejavù!

On another note though, this year was the first year I have been in a relationship on Valentine’s Day although it is ironic that we are thousands of miles and land masses and oceans and time zones apart. I’m sure I don’t need to go on about how much LDRs really suck; especially on days like today when you’re surrounded by smoochy couples who clearly need to get rooms (am I sounding bitter?). Nevertheless, SdC did not disappoint :) I woke up this morning to a very unexpected but lovely message with a totally sweet picture attached to it! This basically brought my happy-meter up to 200% and that was before I even got up out of bed! Boyfriend makes me a happy panda! Not only that but when my pops came home this evening he brought with him a lovely box of Lindt chocolates too. YUM!

the good stuff :)

the good stuff :)

On that note though and in the spirit of today I wish you all a very

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!

I hope it’s filled with lots of awesomeness, chocolate and of course, love! BUT I also hope that you feel that love from all the special people in your life on more than just today too :)

xx
